Use « en revanche » and « par contre » to oppose two ideas (one positive, one negative). « cependant » and « pourtant » mean 'however/yet'; « pourtant » often signals a surprising contrast. To soften disagreement, start with agreement: « Tu as raison, mais… ».
Write a short reply (4–5 sentences) to a friend who says video games are a waste of time. Agree partly, then disagree using en revanche or pourtant.
