Grammar in focus · les pronoms « y » et « en »

« y » replaces a place or « à + thing » (« j'y suis allé » = I went there). « en » replaces « de + thing » or a quantity (« j'en ai mangé » = I ate some). Both go before the verb and help you avoid repeating nouns when recounting a trip.
