Grammar in focus · espoirs et projets

« j'espère que » is followed by the indicative, often the future: « j'espère que je réussirai ». « je compte » + infinitive states a firm plan (« je compte voyager »). For dreams, use « si je pouvais » + conditional: « si je pouvais, je partirais ».

Bien ! Separate the concrete from the hypothetical: « Je compte… » (plan) vs « Si je pouvais, je… » (dream). Keep « j'espère que » + future indicative.
