« anprobieren » is a separable verb: the prefix « an » splits off in a main clause and goes to the end — « Ich probiere den Mantel an. » But after a modal verb the infinitive stays whole: « Kann ich den Mantel anprobieren? » To compliment someone, use stehen + dative: « Das steht Ihnen gut » (literally: that stands well to you = it suits you). Talk about price with sein + adjective: « Das ist (zu) teuer / billig / günstig. » Polite questions use Sie: « Welche Größe brauchen Sie? »
