Grammar in focus · mixing tenses & « weil »

At A2 you can move between three time frames: PAST with the perfect (« Gestern habe ich … gesehen », « Ich bin … gefahren »), PRESENT for now and fixed plans (« Heute bleibe ich zu Hause »), and FUTURE with werden or present + time word (« Morgen werde ich … gehen »). Time markers anchor each: gestern / heute / morgen. To give a reason, use the conjunction « weil » (because), which sends the verb to the END of the sub-clause: « Ich bin nach Köln gefahren, weil meine Schwester dort wohnt. » Note the comma before weil and the verb-final word order.

Write it yourself

Write 3-4 sentences about yesterday, today and tomorrow, and include one « weil » clause.

Tip for this task
Toll! After « weil » the verb goes to the end: « …, weil ich müde bin. » Mix your tenses with clear time markers: gestern / heute / morgen.
