Grammar in focus · contrast connectors

'jedoch', 'trotzdem' and 'dennoch' are adverbs, so they take verb-second position: 'Es kostet viel Geld; trotzdem lohnt es sich.' Note 'zustimmen' is separable and takes the dative: 'Ich stimme dir zu.' The pair 'einerseits … andererseits' frames two contrasting sides, each followed by the verb in second position: 'Einerseits ist es teuer, andererseits hilft es allen.'

Write it yourself

Write a short discussion (5-6 sentences) weighing the pros and cons of online learning, using 'einerseits … andererseits' and 'trotzdem'.

Tip for this task
Gut! Keep verb-second after 'trotzdem': « Trotzdem bevorzuge ich den Präsenzunterricht. » Concede before you contradict for a polite tone.
