Grammar in focus · 'zu' + infinitive and plans

To talk about plans and intentions, use 'vorhaben' (separable) or 'planen' with 'zu' + infinitive at the end: 'Ich habe vor, nach Wien zu fahren'; 'Wir planen, eine Woche zu bleiben.' With separable verbs the 'zu' goes inside: 'anzusehen', 'mitzunehmen'. When recounting the trip, use the Perfekt: 'Wir haben das Schloss besichtigt und sind durch den Garten spaziert.'
