Als ich vor zwei Jahren mit Deutsch angefangen habe, konnte ich kaum einen Satz bilden. 🔊When I started with German two years ago, I could barely form a sentence.

Grammar in focus · putting it all together

A strong B1 personal piece moves through tenses and registers: narrate the start with Präteritum/Perfekt ('Als ich anfing… / habe angefangen'), give an opinion with 'weil' verb-final ('…, weil man dabei wächst'), concede with 'obwohl' ('Obwohl ich Fehler mache, …'), use a relative clause ('jede Entscheidung, die mich hierher gebracht hat'), and close with a plan and a 'dass' clause ('Ich bin zuversichtlich, dass ich es schaffe'). Vary your connectors and sentence length.

Write a structured 6-8 sentence personal piece about a journey you've been on: how it started, your opinion of it, and a future plan. Mix past, opinion and future.

Tip for this task
Gut! Aim for variety: open in the past, justify an opinion with 'weil', concede with 'obwohl', and end with « Ich habe vor… » or « Ich bin zuversichtlich, dass… ». A relative clause will lift your level.
