The polite Konjunktiv II softens requests and proposals: würde + Infinitiv (« Ich würde vorschlagen, … »), könnte, hätte, wäre, fände (« Das fände ich gut »). It signals respect and leaves room to negotiate. Nominalisation (turning verbs into nouns) raises the register: instead of « Wir nehmen die Klausel auf », write « Die Aufnahme der Klausel ». Combine both for diplomatic, professional German: « Eine Anpassung des Gehalts wäre denkbar. »
