Grammar in focus · einerseits … andererseits & Verben mit Präpositionen

einerseits … andererseits balances two perspectives; each part is a main clause with the verb in position two after the adverb: « Einerseits ist es teuer, andererseits ist es nützlich. » Many B2 verbs require a fixed preposition with a fixed case: verfügen über (+ Akk.), bestehen aus, sich verlassen auf (+ Akk.), Wert legen auf (+ Akk.), teilnehmen an (+ Dat.). Learn each verb together with its preposition and case as a single unit.
