To ask where a train leaves from, use da + the platform: « Da quale binario parte? » Remember da + article contracts: da + il = dal (dal binario sette), da + la = dalla, da + l' = dall'. The verb partire (to leave) uses essere in the past: il treno è partito in ritardo. Use c'è / ci sono to report conditions: c'è un ritardo, ci sono molti viaggiatori.
