Reported statements use « (mi) ha detto che + clause ». When the main verb is past, tenses shift back: presente → imperfetto (« Vengo » → « Ha detto che veniva »); passato prossimo / futuro → condizionale composto (« Manderò » → « Ha detto che avrebbe mandato »). Report yes/no questions with « mi ha chiesto se »: « Puoi venire? » → « Mi ha chiesto se potevo venire ». Pronouns also shift (io → lui/lei, mio → suo).
