Grammar in focus · plans, hopes & dreams

Concrete plans: « ho intenzione di + infinito », « conto di + infinito ». Hopes split by subject: same subject → « spero di + infinito » (« Spero di trovare lavoro »); different subject → « spero che + congiuntivo » (« Spero che tu stia bene »). Hypothetical dreams use the unreal conditional: « Se potessi, viaggerei », « Cosa faresti se vincessi…? ».

Bene! Separate plans from dreams: real plans take the infinitive (« conto di partire »), the dream takes the hypothetical (« se potessi, vivrei al mare »).
