Oggi le competenze trasversali contano quanto il titolo di studio. 🔊Today soft skills count as much as the degree.
Sviluppando queste abilità, un candidato offre un vero valore aggiunto. 🔊By developing these abilities, a candidate offers real added value.
Certo, ma le competenze vanno messe in pratica, non solo dichiarate sul curriculum. 🔊Of course, but skills must be put into practice, not just stated on the CV.
Aggiornandosi continuamente, si resta competitivi in un mercato che cambia. 🔊By updating continuously, one stays competitive in a changing market.
La comunicazione, ad esempio, è una competenza richiesta in quasi ogni settore. 🔊Communication, for instance, is an in-demand skill in nearly every sector.
Pertanto l'aggiornamento continuo non è un lusso, ma una necessità. 🔊Therefore continuous upskilling isn't a luxury, but a necessity.
Grammar in focus · the gerundio (manner & means)

The gerundio (-ando / -endo) expresses manner, means or simultaneous action: « sviluppando queste abilità » (by developing these abilities), « aggiornandosi » (by updating oneself). It is invariable and its subject is normally the same as the main verb. With pronouns, they attach to the end: « mettendolo in pratica » (by putting it into practice). It can also express time: « leggendo, ho imparato » (while reading, I learned).

Write it yourself

Explain how someone can stay employable (4–5 sentences), using the gerundio twice.

Tip for this task
Bene! The gerundio keeps the same subject as the main verb — « studiando, migliori » means you study and you improve. Model: « Frequentando corsi e mettendo in pratica ciò che si impara, si accresce il proprio valore aggiunto ».
