Grammar in focus · instrumental for professions
To say your job, use 'jestem' + the profession in the instrumental case (the -em / -ą ending): 'nauczyciel → jestem nauczycielem', 'lekarz → jestem lekarzem', 'inżynier → jestem inżynierem'. Feminine forms take -ą: 'nauczycielka → jestem nauczycielką'. The question is 'Kim jesteś?' (literally 'Who are you?').
