'od' means 'since' or 'for' a period and takes the genitive: « Studiuję od dwóch lat. » (I've studied for two years), « Pracuję tu od stycznia. » (I've worked here since January). Note Polish uses the present tense for an action still going on. Routine verbs: 'zaczynam o…' (I start at…), 'kończę o…' (I finish at…).
