For unreal or hypothetical conditions, Polish uses « gdyby » + conditional in BOTH clauses: « Gdybym miał czas, podróżowałbym po świecie » (If I had time, I would travel the world). « Gdyby » already carries the « by », so it conjugates: gdybym, gdybyś, gdyby, gdybyśmy, gdybyście, gdyby. Both verbs take conditional endings: « Gdybyś się uczył, zdałbyś egzamin. » To give advice, use « Na twoim miejscu… » + conditional (If I were you…): « Na twoim miejscu odpocząłbym. » Or « Powinieneś / powinnaś… » (You should…) + infinitive: « Powinnaś odpocząć. »
Finish and expand: 'Gdybym wygrał/wygrała milion złotych…' Write 4–5 sentences about what you would do.
