Grammar in focus · el pretérito perfecto

The pretérito perfecto talks about the recent past, often connected to today. Form it with the present of haber (he, has, ha, hemos, habéis, han) + the past participle. Regular participles end in -ado (-ar verbs) or -ido (-er/-ir verbs): hablar → he hablado, comer → he comido, vivir → he vivido. Use it with markers like hoy, esta semana, ya and todavía no: '¿Has terminado ya?' Some participles are irregular: hacer → hecho ('¿qué has hecho?'), ver → visto, escribir → escrito.

Write it yourself

Write 2–3 sentences about what you have done today.

Tip for this task
¡Bien! Use « he » + participle and don't forget the accent on words like compré is for later — here keep the participle, e.g. « He estudiado español esta mañana ».
