Grammar in focus · en + medios de transporte

To say how you travel, use en + the means of transport: en tren, en autobús, en coche, en avión, en metro. The exception is on foot: a pie. Two key verbs are salir ('to leave/depart', yo salgo) and llegar ('to arrive', yo llego). Both are common with times: '¿A qué hora sale el tren?' / 'Llega a las tres.' To ask for a ticket politely, use the imperfect of querer: 'Quería un billete para Sevilla' sounds softer than 'quiero'.

Write it yourself

Write 2–3 sentences buying a ticket: destination, type, and departure time.
