Del andén número cuatro, pero lleva diez minutos de retraso. 🔊From platform four, but it's running ten minutes late.
Vaya... ¿Tengo tiempo de tomar un café? 🔊Oh no... Do I have time to grab a coffee?
Sí, hay una cafetería al lado del andén tres. 🔊Yes, there's a café next to platform three.

Grammar in focus · hay y las cantidades

Hay (from haber) means 'there is / there are' and never changes for number: 'Hay una cafetería', 'Hay dos andenes'. Use it to say what exists in a place. To express delay, Spanish uses 'llevar ... de retraso': 'El tren lleva diez minutos de retraso.' For directions inside a station, use al lado de (next to), enfrente de (opposite), and cerca de (near). At the airport, the verb facturar means 'to check in luggage': '¿Dónde puedo facturar las maletas?'

Write it yourself

Write 2–3 sentences at a station: ask the platform and mention a delay.
