Grammar in focus · stating and justifying an opinion

Open with an opinion marker + indicative: « Creo que tienes razón », « Me parece que es caro », « En mi opinión, es buena idea. » Justify with causal connectors: « porque » is the most common and goes mid-sentence — « No voy porque estoy cansado. » « Ya que » and « puesto que » introduce a reason already known to the listener and can start the sentence — « Ya que insistes, te ayudo. » Note: negative opinions often trigger the subjunctive (« No creo que sea verdad »), introduced fully in Module 6.

Write it yourself

Write your opinion (4–5 sentences) on whether students should wear uniforms, justifying it with porque and ya que.

Tip for this task
« ¡Bien! » You introduced and supported your view clearly. To sound more natural, vary your openers: « Desde mi punto de vista… » or « Estoy convencido de que… » For example: « Creo que el uniforme es positivo ya que reduce las diferencias entre alumnos. »
