Grammar in focus · structuring an argumentative text

An argumentative piece follows a clear arc. Introduction: state the thesis (« Sostengo que… », « A modo de introducción… »). Body: ordered arguments (« En primer lugar », « En segundo lugar », « Asimismo ») each supported with evidence, plus a concession-rebuttal (« Es cierto que… no obstante… »). Conclusion: restate and call to action (« En definitiva », « Abogo por… »). Cohesion comes from reusing every B2 tool: the subjunctive of purpose (« para que no discriminen »), the pasiva refleja (« se vulnera la privacidad »), counterfactuals (« si hubieran actuado, no estaríamos… »), and varied connectors. Keep one idea per paragraph and let the thesis echo in the conclusion without copying it verbatim.

Write it yourself

Write a full argumentative paragraph (6–8 sentences) on a B2 topic: thesis → two arguments → concession-rebuttal → conclusion. Use the subjunctive, one passive form and at least three connectors.

Tip for this task
« ¡Bien! » Check your arc: thesis up front, ordered arguments, one « Es cierto que… no obstante… » move, then « En definitiva… ». Weave in a pasiva refleja (« se debería… ») and a purpose clause (« para que… »). Don't copy your thesis word-for-word in the conclusion — rephrase it.
