Lesson 1 of 12 · 7 min

Living and non-living

Scientists sort the world into living things and non-living things. Living things grow, need food and water, and can make more of their kind. People, animals and plants are living. A rock, a toy and water are non-living — they do not grow or eat.

A good test: does it grow and need food? If yes, it is living.
