In a circuit, two resistors $R_1 = 4\ \Omega$ and $R_2 = 6\ \Omega$ are connected in parallel across a 12 V battery of negligible internal resistance. Find the current through each resistor and total current.

$$I_1 = \frac{V}{R_1} = \frac{12}{4} = 3 A, \quad I_2 = \frac{12}{6} = 2 A$$

$$I_{total} = I_1 + I_2 = 5 A$$
