Is it better to take commerce or science if I want to go into finance and banking?
I scored well in class 10 and can choose either stream. I am interested in banking and finance careers like investment banking or becoming a CA. My parents want me to take science thinking it has better options.

For banking and finance (investment banking, CA, CFA), commerce is the more direct path. Science is NOT required. Commerce with Maths gives you: CA (Chartered Accountant), MBA Finance, CFA, banking jobs, stock market careers. Science with Maths also qualifies you for MBA and finance careers, but you will study Physics and Chemistry for 2 years with less direct relevance. The advantage of science: more options (engineering + finance). However, if you are certain about finance/banking, commerce is more efficient. Both streams can lead to IIM and top finance careers via CAT/GMAT.
