[JEE Main 2003] let z 1 z 2 be the roots of z 2 az b 0
Let $Z_1,Z_2$ be the roots of $Z^2+aZ+b=0$. If the origin, $Z_1$ and $Z_2$ form an equilateral triangle, then

Correct answer: (d) $a^2=3b$
For an equilateral triangle with the origin, $Z_1^2+Z_2^2=Z_1Z_2$, i.e. $(Z_1+Z_2)^2=3Z_1Z_2\Rightarrow a^2=3b$.
