Lesson 2 of 11 · 7 min

Word parts: prefixes and suffixes

We can add parts to a word to change its meaning. A prefix goes at the start: un- means 'not', so unhappy means not happy. A suffix goes at the end: -ing shows it is happening now, -ed shows it already happened.

un + happy = unhappy

Add a part, change the meaning

Let’s try it! ✍️
