IELTS Listening practice tests — FAQs
Do these IELTS Listening practice tests include audio?
Yes — each test is read aloud by your browser’s built-in voices, with different voices for different speakers, so you can practise anywhere without downloads. The full transcript unlocks after you submit.
What is the format of the IELTS Listening test?
Four sections with 10 questions each: an everyday conversation, a monologue, a discussion between students, and an academic lecture. Difficulty rises from Section 1 to Section 4, and these tests follow that exact structure.
How is the IELTS Listening test scored?
One mark per question out of 40, converted to a band from 0 to 9. Around 30 correct answers gives Band 7 and 35 gives Band 8. Your score and band are calculated automatically when you submit.
Is the Listening test the same for Academic and General Training?
Yes — unlike Reading and Writing, the Listening test is identical for both versions, so all 30 tests here work for every IELTS candidate.
