Find the area of the region bounded by the curves ${y^2} = 9x$, $y = 3x$.

Step-by-step Solution

Given that

${y^2} = 9x$ and $y = 3x$
Solving ${y^2} = 3(3x) = 3y$
$\Rightarrow y = 0$ or 3

When $y = 0,x = 0$ and when $y = 3,x = 1$

$A = \int_0^1 {(\sqrt {9x} - 3x)} dx$

$= 3\left( {\frac{2}{3} - 0} \right) - 3\left( {\frac{1}{2} - 0} \right)$
