.: Let$I = \int {\cfrac{{2x}}{{1 + {x^2}}}dx}$
Put $1 + {x^2} = t$ $\Rightarrow$ $2xdx = dt$
$\therefore$ $I = \int {\cfrac{{dt}}{t}} = \log t + C = \log \left( {1 + {x^2}} \right) + C$
