Question
Find the intercepts cut off by the plane$2x + y - z = 5.$
Find the intercepts cut off by the plane$2x + y - z = 5.$
.: The given equation of the plane is$2x + y - z = 5.$
$\Rightarrow$ $\cfrac{x}{{5/2}} + \cfrac{y}{5} + \cfrac{z}{{ - 5}} = 1$
Comparing it with$\cfrac{x}{a} + \cfrac{y}{b} + \cfrac{z}{c} = 1$,
we get the intercepts on the axes as $\cfrac{5}{2},5$ and $- 5$.
