📖The Computer Kingdom
Welcome to the Computer Kingdom! Everyone here has a job:
- 👑 King CPU is the brain — he does all the thinking and gives orders.
- 🏰 Memory Castle (RAM) is the King's busy table, where he spreads out the work he is doing right now. When the King goes to sleep (power off), the table is wiped clean!
- 📜 The Rule Book (ROM) never changes — it tells the kingdom how to wake up each morning.
- 🗄️ The Royal Vaults (Storage) — the hard disk, pen drive and discs — keep every scroll safe forever, even when the King sleeps.
Remember the kingdom and you'll never mix up memory again!
🔁How a computer works — the IPO cycle
Every computer does its job in three steps. We call this the IPO cycle:
- Input — you give it data (you type on the keyboard or click the mouse).
- Process — the brain of the computer, the CPU, works on the data.
- Output — the answer comes out (you see it on the screen or print it).
Think of making juice: you put in fruit (input), the mixer works (process), and out comes juice (output)! While the computer works, it keeps the data in its memory.

🧠Primary memory — RAM & ROM
Why does a computer need memory? Because it must remember the data it is working on right now — just like you keep numbers in your head while doing a sum.
Primary memory is the computer's main, fast memory. It has two kinds:

💾Secondary memory & storage devices
RAM forgets everything when you switch off, so we keep our files safe in secondary memory — these are storage devices. They remember your work even with the power off, and they hold much more.

So the two families of memory are:
- Primary memory (RAM, ROM) — fast, but small and (for RAM) temporary.
- Secondary memory (hard disk, pen drive, CD, DVD) — slower, but large and permanent.

🛠️Mini Project: Memory & Storage poster
Grab paper and crayons and make a poster for Memory Castle:
- Draw RAM as a messy desk and ROM as a rule book. Label which one FORGETS when the power is off.
- Draw a hard disk, a pen drive, a CD and a DVD — these are your storage vaults.
- Make a table of 4 things at home that remember information (phone, TV, game console, camera).
- Add one big rule at the bottom: "Always SAVE before you switch off!"

Lots of things around you remember and store information. Can you spot them?

- A game console saves your progress so you can carry on tomorrow.
- When a game feels slow with many things open, it has run low on RAM.
