🔵Represent Fractions on a Number Line
A number line shows fractions between whole numbers. To plot a fraction:
- Divide the distance from 0 to 1 into equal parts (number = denominator)
- Count that many parts from 0 (number = numerator)
Example: 3/4 → divide into 4 equal parts, count 3 from 0.

- Numerator = how many steps to count from 0.
- Farther from 0 on number line = larger fraction.
🟢Compare Fractions
Same denominator: bigger numerator = bigger fraction (5/8 > 3/8)
Same numerator: smaller denominator = bigger fraction (1/3 > 1/4, because thirds are bigger than fourths)

🟣Equivalent Fractions
Equivalent fractions look different but have the same value.
1/2 = 2/4 = 3/6 = 4/8
To find equivalent fractions: multiply both top and bottom by the same number.
Example: 2/3 x (4/4) = 8/12. So 2/3 = 8/12.
