DiscountOriginal × (Percent off) = Savings20% off 50 =10 saved
Sale PriceOriginal - Savings50 -10 = 40 | | **Tax** | Price × Tax rate = Tax amount |40 × 0.08 = 3.20 tax | | **Tip** | Bill × Tip rate = Tip amount |50 × 0.15 = 7.50 tip | | **Total with tax/tip** | Price + Tax/Tip |40 + 3.20 =43.20
Percent Increase(New - Original)/Original × 100(60-50)/50 = 20%
Percent Decrease(Original - New)/Original × 100(50-40)/50 = 20%
DISCOUNT CALCULATION - BAR MODEL:

 Original Price: 80 (100%)

 ┌───────────────┬───────────────┐
 │ 25% OFF │ 75% PAY │
 │ (20 saved) │ (60) │
 └───────────────┴───────────────┘

 Step 1: 25% of 80 = 0.25 × 80 = 20 saved
 Step 2: Sale price = 80 - 20 = 60
 OR: Sale price = 75% of 80 = 0.75 × 80 = 60

TAX CALCULATION:

 Item price: 45
 Tax rate: 8%

 ┌─────────────────────────────────┐
 │ │
 │ 45.00 (item) │
 │ + 3.60 (tax = 45 × 0.08) │
 │ ───────────────────────── │
 │ 48.60 (total) │
 │ │
 └─────────────────────────────────┘

TIP CALCULATION:

 Restaurant bill: 35
 Tip rate: 18%

 Method 1: 35 × 0.18 = 6.30 tip
 Method 2: 10% = 3.50, 5% = 1.75,
 3% = 1.05 → Total = 6.30

 Total bill = 35 + 6.30 = 41.30

PERCENT CHANGE FORMULA:

 Percent Change = (New - Original) / Original × 100

 Increase: Price 50 → 65
 (65 - 50)/50 × 100 = 15/50 × 100 = 30% increase

 Decrease: Price 50 → 35
 (35 - 50)/50 × 100 = -15/50 × 100 = -30% decrease
 (or 30% decrease)
