Reading the Clock

A clock has an hour hand (short) and a minute hand (long). When the minute hand points to 12, it is an o'clock time. When it points to 6, it is half past the hour. There are 60 minutes in 1 hour.

Example 1: The hour hand is on 3 and the minute hand on 12. What time is it?
3 o'clock.
Example 2: The minute hand is on 6 and the hour hand between 4 and 5. What time?
Half past 4 (4:30).

Days of the Week

There are 7 days in a week: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Yesterday is the day before today and tomorrow is the day after. We use these to talk about when things happen.

Example 2: If today is Monday, what is tomorrow?
Tuesday.
