1 Quick Introduction

English

Synthesis is the art of combining several short sentences into one well-made sentence — the opposite of analysis. ICSE papers test it directly. There are several methods (participle, infinitive, relative pronoun, apposition, abstract noun, conjunction), and the skill is choosing the one that joins the ideas most smoothly.

हिन्दी

संश्लेषण (synthesis) कई छोटे वाक्यों को एक सुगठित वाक्य में जोड़ने की कला है — विश्लेषण का उल्टा। ICSE पेपर इसे सीधे जाँचते हैं। इसके कई तरीके हैं (participle, infinitive, relative pronoun, apposition, abstract noun, conjunction), और कौशल है वह तरीका चुनना जो विचारों को सबसे सहजता से जोड़े।

2 A Real-Life Situation

Imagine this

Three choppy facts become one smooth sentence:

Choppy: Ravi is a boy. He is brave. He saved a child.

Synthesised: Ravi, a brave boy, saved a child.

Why this form? By turning 'He is brave' into the apposition 'a brave boy', three sentences become one elegant statement. Synthesis makes writing concise and mature — exactly what board examiners reward.
