🌱Wild and Tame Animals
We can sort animals into two big groups by where they live:
- 🦁 Wild animals live in forests, deserts or jungles and find their own food. Lion, tiger, elephant and deer are wild.
- 🐄 Tame (domestic) animals live with people, who feed and care for them. Cow, dog, cat and hen are tame.
🤔 Vidi's Wonder Questions
Are wild animals dangerous?
Some wild animals can be dangerous because they are not used to people. That is why we watch them safely from far away, like at a zoo or wildlife park.
Can a wild animal become tame?
Long, long ago, people slowly tamed some wild animals like dogs and cows over many years. But we should never try to tame a wild animal ourselves.
🤖 Vidi's Key Points
- Wild animals live on their own in forests and jungles.
- Tame (domestic) animals live with people who care for them.
- Lion = wild; cow and dog = tame.
🐝Animals That Help Us
Many tame animals are great helpers. They give us food and do important work:
- 🐄 Cow and 🐃 buffalo give us milk.
- 🐔 Hen gives us eggs.
- 🐑 Sheep gives us wool for warm clothes.
- 🐝 Bees give us honey.
- 🐕 Dog guards our home; 🐎 horse and 🐂 ox help carry and pull loads.
🤔 Vidi's Wonder Questions
How do we get wool without hurting the sheep?
A sheep's woolly coat is cut off gently, just like a haircut. It does not hurt, and the wool grows back — then we make sweaters from it!
Why is a dog called our best friend?
Dogs are loyal and loving. They guard our homes, help find lost people, and are wonderful, caring companions to us.
🤖 Vidi's Key Points
- Cow and buffalo give milk; hen gives eggs.
- Sheep gives wool; bees give honey.
- Dogs guard us; horses and oxen help carry loads.
☀️Animal Sounds
Animals make sounds to talk to each other — to call their family, warn of danger or find a friend. Each animal has its own special sound:
- 🐄 Cow → moo
- 🐕 Dog → bark
- 🐈 Cat → meow
- 🦁 Lion → roar
- 🐔 Hen → cluck, Rooster → cock-a-doodle-doo
🤔 Vidi's Wonder Questions
Why does a dog bark?
A dog barks to talk! It may be saying hello, warning that a stranger is near, or asking to play. Barking is a dog's way of speaking.
Do animals understand each other's sounds?
Animals of the same kind understand their own sounds very well. A mother hen's cluck calls her chicks, and they come running to her!
🤖 Vidi's Key Points
- Animals make sounds to talk to each other.
- Cow → moo, dog → bark, cat → meow, lion → roar.
- Sounds can call family or warn of danger.
💧Where Animals Live
The place where an animal lives is called its home or habitat. Animals live where they can find food and stay safe:
- 🐟 Fish live in water.
- 🐪 Camels live in the desert.
- 🐒 Monkeys live in forests, in trees.
- 🐻❄️ Polar bears live in very cold, snowy lands.
- 🐄 Farm animals live near people.
🤔 Vidi's Wonder Questions
How does a camel live in the hot desert?
A camel stores food in its hump and can go many days without water. Its body is perfect for the dry, hot desert — its special home.
Why can't a fish live on land?
A fish breathes the air mixed in water using its gills. On dry land it cannot breathe, so water is the only home where a fish can live.
🤖 Vidi's Key Points
- An animal's home is the place where it lives (its habitat).
- Fish → water, camel → desert, monkey → forest.
- Animals live where they find food and stay safe.
🍃Caring for Animals
All animals can feel happy, hungry and hurt — so we must be kind and care for them:
- 🍲 Give pets clean food and fresh water.
- 🏠 Give them a safe, clean place to rest.
- ❤️ Be gentle — never hit or frighten an animal.
- 🩺 Take sick animals to an animal doctor (a vet).
Even street animals deserve our kindness. A little water on a hot day can help so much.
🤔 Vidi's Wonder Questions
Who is a vet?
A vet is a special doctor for animals. When a pet is sick or hurt, the vet checks it and gives medicine to help it feel better.
How can I help street animals?
On a hot day you can keep a bowl of clean water outside (with a grown-up). Being gentle and never throwing things at them is a big kindness.
🤖 Vidi's Key Points
- Give pets food, water and a clean, safe home.
- Be gentle — never hurt or scare an animal.
- A vet is an animal doctor who helps sick animals.
