Post-Independence India

After 1947, Sardar Patel (the 'Iron Man') integrated the princely states. The Constitution came into force on 26 January 1950; Dr. Rajendra Prasad was the first President. India fought wars in 1962, 1965 and 1971 (the last creating Bangladesh).
