Currency Conversion and International Concepts

What is Currency Conversion?

Currency conversion is the process of changing one country's money into another country's money using an exchange rate.

Exchange Rate:

The price of one currency in terms of another. Example: \(1 \text{ USD} = ₹83.50 \text{ INR}\)

Types of Exchange Rates:

  • Amount in INR = \(250 \times 83.50 = ₹20,875\)

(Round to nearest dollar) *Solution:* - Amount in USD = $50,000 \div 83.50 \approx 598.80$ - Rounded to nearest dollar = $599 \text{ USD}$ - **Answer:** $599 USD **Example 3:** A watch costs $120 USD in the USA. The same watch costs ₹9,000 INR in India. If $1 \text{ USD} = ₹83$, which is cheaper and by how much? *Solution:* - USD price in INR = $120 \times 83 = ₹9,960$ - India price = ₹9,000 - Difference = ₹9,960 - ₹9,000 = ₹960 (India is cheaper) - **Answer:** India is cheaper by ₹960
