Fill in the Blanks • Topic 4 of 4

Double Blanks

Double-blank questions give two gaps and four option-pairs. The correct pair must fit BOTH blanks — if either word fails, eliminate the whole pair.

Both gaps, or eliminate

With a pair of options, the rule is strict: both words must fit. If the first word works but the second doesn't, drop the entire pair. This makes elimination fast.

LogicConnector pair
consequence (so … that)so … that
contrastthough … yet / although
additionboth … and / not only … but also
negative pairneither … nor
conditionif … then
Read the relationship first. Decide whether the two ideas show contrast, cause, or addition, then pick the connector pair that matches — and confirm the second blank fits before committing.
