Fill in the Blanks • Topic 3 of 4
Prepositions & Articles
Many blanks are a single preposition or article. Use fixed combinations and the prepositions of time/place: 'at' a point, 'on' a day/date, 'in' a month/year/place.
Prepositions of time and place
| Preposition | Use for | Example |
|---|---|---|
| at | a precise point | at 6 pm, at night |
| on | a day or date | on Monday, on 5 June |
| in | month/year/large place | in June, in 2010, in Delhi |
Fixed combinations still apply: interested IN, capable OF, good AT, in accordance WITH. Decide first whether the blank is time, place, or a fixed pair — that picks the preposition.
